Arsenal

Arsenal- Main headquarter of the Museum of Prudnik's land is in building adjoining to XV-century City walls and two towers, where in The Middle Age weapons were being stored. Later these antique buildings fulfilled role of the city prison. In XIX century the bigger tower had been modified into tower of pressure supplying local waterworks. In the interwar period , buildings of current museum were used as youth hostel.

Thanks to the efforts of Józef Wierzyński and generosity of Prudnik's population in yr.1959 museum has been opened and functions to this day.

Currently in the Arsenal gathered and stored are collections from fields of: archeology, ethnography, local history and art. The collections presented are on fixed exhibitions dedicated among other things to history of Prudnik, Silesia's former kitchen, processing of flax and resettlement releated to change of borders after World War II. In the corner tower exhibited are military expositions , which contains numerous weapon from Napoleon's wars period. In archeology division special attention deserve casting molds of tools and bronze decorations dated on Sorbian culture period.

Rich ethnographic division gathers folk costumes and clothes as well as tools used in sub-region household and other things related to processing of flax and weaver. In museum can also be viewed permanent art exhibit of famous Polish artist Hanna Bakuła.

Thanks to expansion of Arsenal building in 2004 and coverage of courtyard with glass roof, museum gained ample space in which organized are various temporary exhibits of artists from Poland and other countries.

Statute goal of museum is also educational and scientific activity conducted in the form of lessons, conferences and publications.
